Oregon Governor Ted Kulongoski States Commitment to a Clean Energy Future

In his address to the Council, Governor Kulongoski said he believed that energy security is national security, and he stressed the need to develop an independent energy policy.

Council Seeks Comment on Major Issues for Its Sixth Power Plan

In preparation for the development of its Sixth Power Plan, the Council approved release of a paper outlining key issues the plan will address. The Council is requesting comment on these issues and any other areas as a first step toward drafting a new energy plan for the region.

BPA Administrator Steve Wright Outlines Energy Priorities

Steve Wright, Bonneville Power Administration administrator, described the long-term goals for the agency: preserve the value of the existing hydropower system; address an increasingly constrained system through energy efficiency measures and demand response; integrate renewable resources into the Pacific Northwest's energy system; address current transmission problems while trying to accommodate new wind generation; and meet the challenges of global warming while also continuing the work to recover listed species.
