Council Agrees to Begin Process to Amend the Columbia River Fish and Wildlife Program

The Council approved both the letter requesting recommendations to amend the Council's Fish and Wildlife Program and the guidance material to help the public develop recommendations.

Science-Policy Conference Identifies Emerging Fish and Wildlife Issues

Dr. Richard Williams provided a summary of the main points made by presenters at the Council's two-day conference in September. The purpose of the exchange was to inform policymakers on the current research and its implications for fish and wildlife recovery efforts. Topics included the efficacy of freshwater habitat restoration, survival of salmon and steelhead past the hydroelectric dams on the Columbia and Snake rivers, survival of salmon and steelhead in the Columbia River estuary, and survival in the Pacific Ocean.

Council Approves Sixth Annual Report to Northwest Governors on Bonneville Power Administration's Fish and Wildlife Expenditures

The Council approved release of the 2007 spending report. The report details the Bonneville Power Administration's expenditures for fish and wildlife actions.
