INTRODUCTION:
Welcome to the PNW Habitat Classification Systems (PHaCS) Database. The PHaCS database is a tool for viewing different systems used to classify habitats in the PNW; it also provides cross-walks between systems.
FILES: This PHaCS Database (3.6m ZIP) consists of two files:
- PHaCS.mdb is the main application file containing all of the forms and reports.
- PHaCS_FinalReport.doc is the report describing the project; page 1 of the database provides a link to this report.
INSTALLATION:
Copy the PNW_Habitat_Classifications folder; be sure to keep the two files together in the same folder. Please note that this file is currently in draft form. User feedback is welcome, sent to Candace Russo (see below).
OPERATION:
To open the PHaCS Database double click on the PHaCS.mdb file in windows explorer or open MS Access and browse to the file with the File/Open command.
LIMITATIONS:
This PHaCS tool is optimized for a screen resolution of 1280 x 1024. Working with PHaCS at lower resolutions may produce unexpected results. It is recommended that you close all docked toolbars while using to maximize screen space in Access.
Access 2003 is the recommended environment for running . Using an earlier version of Access may produce unexpected results.
DATABASE CARE AND BACKUP:
It is recommended that every so often the PNW_HabitatClassifications.mdb file is compacted. Open the file in Access then choose Tools>Database Utilities> Compact and Repair Database. This operation will delete any extra system data that has built up in the database.
PHOTOGRAPHS:
