Comments to Recommendations on developing a Mainstem Plan for the 2000 Fish and Wildlife Program

 Fish and wildlife    Program

I haven't read, nor will I be reading, the Northwest Power Planning Council
recommendations for fish & wildlife. I would like to make one
comment. Recently, it was reported in our local newspaper that, due to
the drought, exceptions would be made to the MINIMUM INSTREAM FLOWS for the
benefit of power, or irrigation, or something. This is just ridiculous to
me!!!! These are MINIMUM INSTREAM FLOWS set for the sake of fish--they are
MINIMUM instream flows!!!! At the very least, whatever decisions are made,
there should be no exceptions to the minimum instream flows! These minimum
instream flows are pathetic enough as it is----respect them!!
