TO: Conservation Resources Advisory Committee

SUBJECT: November 4th Meeting

I would like to invite you to the fourth meeting of the Council's Conservation Resources Advisory Committee. The meeting will be held at the Council's Portland Office on September 30th from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM.  For those of you flying into Portland International Airport, you can now ride the MAX light rail trains from the airport to downtown.  The Council's offices are one block south of the ?Pioneer Square? stop. The building we are in has two entrances. If you enter from Broadway, the address is 850 SW.  If you enter from Sixth Avenue the address is 851 Sixth SW.

A meeting agenda and the notes from the September 30th meeting accompanies this memorandum. Other meeting materials will be posted on the Committee's web site (http://www.nwcouncil.org/energy/powerplan/CRAC/default.htm) later this week. For those of you attending via phone, please call the Central Office at 800-452-5161 to receive the call-in number and passcode.

here's a short synopsis of what we will be covering.

The first item on our agenda will be a discussion of the Northwest Energy Coalition's  ?Clean Electricity Options for the Pacific Northwest: An Assessment of Efficiency and Renewable Potential Through the Year 2020? prepared by the Tellus Institute.  Nancy Hirsh will present the findings of this research and (we hope) the report's principal author Michael Lazarus will be joining us via phone.  This report is available for downloading from the Coalition's web site: http://www.nwenergy.org/outreach/Tellus_Report.html

The second item on our agenda will be a presentation over the lunch hour (we will provide lunch) by Lisa Skumatz from Skumatz Economic Research Associates (SERA), on recent research she has conducted on ?non-energy benefits?. She will discuss:

The final item of the day will be a presentation of the Council's draft conservation resource assessment for residential lighting, appliances and water heating.
